ATTENTION ALL CATTLE PRODUCERS
As from the 1st of January 2012 Safemeat has imposed a Provisional 90 Day Russian Export Slaughter Interval (ESI) on products and feed containing Oxytetracycline and Chlortetracycline. Russia is our 4th largest export market. If you do not use products or feeds containing Oxytetracycline or Chlortetracycline or are complying with the 90 day ESI you must write the words “RUSSIAN ELIGIBLE” in question 9 of your NVD. The Australian Livestock & Property Association believes that this will be a requirement for any buyers that supply the Russian market. It is essential to have your NVD filled out properly to ensure full competition on your cattle. There is full list of products containing these 2 drugs on the Safemeat site (www.safemeat.com.au). For further information on this issue please contact us or see your local Vet for alternative products on the market that you can use.
