Murgon Market Report 14th April 2026

Numbers were back to 600 for Murgon’s liveweight sale yesterday. Values for Export cattle improved slightly in places. Feeder and restocker cattle sold to firm values based on the last sale.  Few Bullocks were yarded selling to $4.24 c/kg and $2680.00. Bulls topped at $3.54 c/kg for $3020.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $3.48 per kilogram and $2250.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $3.25 for $1550.00. Light Cows under 400 kg sold to $2.70 & $930.00.  Export heifers topped at $3.72 c/kg and $1950.00. Steers 400 to 500kg sold to $4.68 per kilo and $2307.00. Steers in the 300 to 400 kg bracket also topped at $4.68 c/kg and $1840.00.  Heifers 400 to 500 kg sold to $3.85 and $1740.00. The market for heifers in the 300 to 400kg range topped at $3.70 per kilo and $1390.00. The best of the weaner steers sold to $5.18 per kilo for $1580.00.  Weaner heifers sold to a top of $3.80 and $1190.00.  A Limited number of Cows & Calves sold to $2100.00.

Murgon Agents yarded 1250 for the fortnightly sale. Values were cheaper across the board. Export cattle were up to 40 to 50 cents cheaper in places. Better quality store cattle sold to firm values with lesser quality types seeing a fair deduction in price. The best of the Bullocks yarded sold to $4.24 c/kg for $2896.00. Bulls topped at $3.50 c/kg for $2780.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $3.42 per kilogram and $2080.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $3.38 for $1550.00. Light Cows under 400 kg sold to $2.86 & $1100.00. Export heifers topped at $3.92 c/kg and $2200.00. 

Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Mundubbera, Mt Perry, Yarraman, Nanango, Kingaroy, Kilkivan, Haden & locally. Charbray steers 463 kg from Kingaroy sold for $2160.00 at $4.66 c/kg. Local Santa steers sold to $2030.00 at $4.42 c/kg. Local Santa steers from Crownthorpe sold for $1706.00 at $4.98 c/kg. 380 kg Simmental cross steers from Gayndah sold for $4.68 c/kg returning $1790.00. Santa steers from Gayndah sold to $1365.00 at $4.70 c/kg. Simmental cross steers from Tansey sold for $5.00 c/kg returning $1540.00. Local Charbray weaner steers from Manyung sold for $5.50 c/kg and $1540.00. Angus cross weaner steers from Melrose sold for $5.44 c/kg and $1247.00. Santa weaner steers from Barambah sold for $1230.00 at $5.24 c/kg. Droughtmaster cross weaner steers from Booubyjan sold for $5.20 c/kg to return $1440.00. Simmental cross weaner steers from Cinnabar sold for $1230.00 at $5.18 c/kg. 2 pens of Charbray & Simmental cross heifers from Haden sold for $3.76 c/kg returning $1517.00 & $1472.00 respectively. 400 kg Charbray heifers from Yarraman also sold for $3.76 c/kg for $1500.00. Brangus heifers from Wondai 322 kg sold for $1220.00 at $3.78 c/kg. Santa cross heifers from Windera sold for $1140.00 at $3.65 c/kg. Angus cross weaner heifers sold for $830.00 at $3.64 c/kg. Santa weaner heifers from Barambah sold for $3.54 c/kg returning $807.00. Shorthorn cross Cows & calves sold to $1350.00. The next Murgon sale will be on Tuesday the 14th of April at 8.00 am

Bulls topped at $3.98 c/kg for $3220.00. Cows over 500kg sold to $3.98 per kilogram and $2850.00. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to $3.92 for $1860.00. Light Cows under 400 kg sold to $3.60 & $1200.00. Export heifers topped at $4.52 c/kg and $2380.00.  

Cattle were drawn from Gayndah, Mt Perry, Yarraman, Nanango, Kingaroy, Kilkivan & locally. Local Angus steers 540 kg sold for $2660 at $4.90 c/kg. Simmental and red Angus cross steers from Redgate sold for $4.86 c/kg to return $2570.00. 415 kg Santa steers from Cobbs Hill sold for $2030.00 and $4.90 c/kg. 440 kg Santa steers from Moffatdale sold to $2170.00 and $4.90 c/kg. Angus steers from Crownthorpe weighing 358 kg sold for $5.20 c/kg returning $1860.00. Local Droughtmaster steers 350 kg sold for $1785.00 at $5.10 c/kg. 295 kg Santa cross steers from Windera sold to $1615.00 at $5.46 c/kg. Limousin cross weaner steers from Hivesville sold for $1650.00 at $5.32 c/kg. Brangus weaner steers from Kilkivan sold for 1340.00 and $5.60 c/kg, topping the weaner steers market. Charbray weaner steers from Yarraman sold for $1500.00 at $5.48 c/kg. Droughtmaster cross weaner steers from Booubyjan sold for $1450.00 and $5.44 c/kg. Local Santa heifers from Moffatdale, 337 kg sold to $1500.00 at $4.46 c/kg. Local Angus heifers from Crownthorpe sold for $1540.00 at $4.42 c/kg. 350 kg Charbray heifers from Cloyna sold for $1500.00 at $4.28 c/kg. 310 kg Charbray heifers from Nanango sold for $1300.00 and $4.22 c/kg. Limousin cross weaner heifers from Hivesville sold to $1200.00 at $4.40 c/kg. Brahman Cows & calves from Cloyna sold for $2325.00. Brangus Cows & calves from Tansey sold to $2125.00.
